Saira and Kevin brought the best of both worlds to their nuptial celebrations by having a American wedding ceremony and a Bangladeshi wedding reception on the same day. Saira got to wear both a white wedding gown and a gorgeous lehenga (which you’ll see in just a bit), every South Asian-American bride’s dream!

Saira absolutely stunned us in her white gown, so we were ready to see how dapper Kevin looked as a groom, and he didn’t disappoint.

A Bangladeshi Bride Sparkles in White

We love every single thing about Saira’s wedding day look. Her look simply screamed glamour and sass. We adore her fun bouffant with big waves streaming down her back and of course the flash of red on her lips and swipe of dark black eyeliner. And the dress! Oh, the dress. Fiitted at the bodice, with a twirly tafetta bottom—what’s not to love?

Saira and Kevin’s Fantastic Fusion Gayer Holud

I know we gush tremendeously about inter-ethnic couples, but we can’t help it. We love it when two people find each other despite race, ethnicity, and religion! Today’s inter-ethnic couple, Saira and Kevin, combined both their backgrounds to plan an amazing wedding that contained both Bangladeshi wedding rituals as well as American rituals that they both grow up with.

Our first stop on their wedding train is the oh-so-Bengali tradition of the Gayer Holud. Saira and Kevin chose a red, yellow, and orange theme to create a very traditional Gayer Holud ceremony at the Euclid Community Center in Euclid, Ohio. With red roses in her hair, Saira looks like a true Bengali bride!

A South Indian Wedding in South Africa!

We’re so happy to showcase Anushielin and Kanchana’s amazing Telugu wedding from Johannesburg, South Africa! Photographer Hema Nana of Designer Photo sent these beautiful images from across several ponds, and we’re positively delighted to see how beautifully our South African counterparts celebrate their nuptials.

Photographer Hema captured the unabashed love between these two former co-workers perfectly and the simple and serene background played up the gold and red of Anushielin and Kanchana’s traditional look.

Reception Ideas: Shades of Pink

Earlier today, we showcased a fantastically adorable couple—Neha and Michael and their beautiful wedding portraits at the Vinoy Renaissance in St. Petersburg. Carrie from Simply Blue Studios also shared with us some wonderful images of their reception hall decor. Neha worked with her decorator, Pinky of Nikun Events, to create a theme that consisted of all shades of pink and purple against a white backdrop. We love how tastefully the decor was done with carefully selected florals and centerpieces with just the right amount of pizazz for the stage.

Today, we’re featuring a simple yet superbly romantic wedding on The Sari-Clad Bride. This adorable couple met through mutual friends while they were both living in Chicago, and the rest was romantic history!

Neha and Michael wanted their big day to be representative of both of their cultural backgrounds, so they created a wedding day that was both Indian and American! Neha had always dreamed of wearing a beautiful white gown, so she chose a beautiful strapless lehenga-shaped gown.

Neha’s favorite wedding moment:

“Standing on the gazebo during the ceremony and taking a moment to look up at Mike and then all of our friends and family surrounding us. Your wedding is the one time in your life when every person from every part of your life will be together in one room – it’s a pretty incredible feeling.”

As female editors, we usually fawn over the bride’s attire before even laying eyes on the groom. But in this case we couldn’t help but showcase the groom first! Shyam’s pearl-encrusted sehra is worthy of a maharaja and has us dreaming of handsome young princes and white horses…
