Hi girls—I’m Sumaiya. A little about me: I have always had a fascination (many may even call it an obsession) with weddings, especially South Asian weddings that are filled with culture, tradition, jewelry, bling, and all that jazz. What you can expect from me is input as the recent bride (I got married in May 2007) who has dealt with the ins and out of a wedding and put together her own within three months—and let me tell you, it was chaotic! Putting together a wedding in three months, much less a South Asian wedding was insane. I hope to share with you my personal obstacles and findings from my own wedding, and also weddings that I am going to be helping plan in this coming year.

When we asked South Asian Wedding Planner, Amy Patel of Planning Elegance, what tips she had to offer brides– here is what she had to say:

Start planning your wedding early. South Asian brides do not even realize they need a planner–however, South Asian Weddings have several events and a planner is almost crucial.
Consider hiring a [...]

Spending the majority of my childhood and adolescence in California, it made sense for all of our wedding events to be located in the Golden State.  However, being that my husband was raised in Dhaka, Bangladesh, we were going to have two sets of all events–the first in California and the second in Dhaka within [...]

Traditionally newlyweds opt for honeymoons that are composed of sun, beaches, and the ocean–however, The Sari-Clad Bride suggests that you try something a little different– Toyko, Japan for a honeymoon.
The Sari-Clad Bride had the opportunity to explore all of Tokyo’s Treasures March 2008 and enjoyed Japan thoroughly.  The following places are must see locations while [...]
