When I started planning my November 2009 wedding a few months ago, I realized how few resources South Asian-American brides actually have available. Desi weddings are made up of amazing traditions and cultural details that aren’t always covered by mainstream bridal magazines, websites or t.v. shows and we really have nowhere to turn for a complete wedding resource. So, my best friend and bridesmaid, Farah, and I decided to start ‘The Sari-Clad Bride’ to help all those desi brides out there (like me!) who need some help planning their beautiful and lavish weddings, on any budget, any time-frame and in any city in the world! We hope to be able to provide you with some amazing ideas and resources you need to plan your fabulous wedding in the days to come.

When we were flipping through photos of an engagement shoot Syed of SY Photography sent over, we couldn’t get over the doe-eyed bride to be! So we decided to do a feature exclusively on this stunning bengali beauty. Maisha’s expressive eyes and shy demeanor won us over completely, so we can imagine how smitten her [...]

Earlier today, we showcased a fantastically adorable couple—Neha and Michael and their beautiful wedding portraits at the Vinoy Renaissance in St. Petersburg. Carrie from Simply Blue Studios also shared with us some wonderful images of their reception hall decor. Neha worked with her decorator, Pinky of Nikun Events, to create a theme that consisted of [...]

Today, we’re featuring a simple yet superbly romantic wedding on The Sari-Clad Bride. This adorable couple met through mutual friends while they were both living in Chicago, and the rest was romantic history! Neha and Michael wanted their big day to be representative of both of their cultural backgrounds, so they created a wedding day [...]

by Nida at Khanology.blogspot.com Most South Asians celebrate weddings with a “Boom, Blast and Bhangra!” as most Desi weddings are known to be loud and colorful. So while researching this guest post for The Sari-Clad Bride, I was inspired by a soft, crisp, and pure ‘WHITE’ palette. In many cultures and religions around the world, [...]
