“We held our henna/mehndi ceremony in Toronto  and also included the official nikkah that day. We wanted to honor my parents wishes to have a traditional Muslim marriage, and decided that legally it would be easier for us to get married on paper in Canada rather than in the Dominican Republic where we planned our destination wedding!”
